This program is inclusive, bias-free and based on the concept of learning through play and modeling. I recognize that children learn through active involvement; something I learned during my Montessori philosophy training and in the Early Childhood Education program. This is why the learning activities of my program combine these two methods. They are designed to stimulate creativity, individual growth, development of motor skills, listening/communication skills, cognitive skills, social/emotional skills, and environmental awareness.

I strongly believe in the value of free play for children. This is where true learning is found! Research and evidence all point to the importance of play in children’s development and learning across cultures. Many believe that it is impossible to disentangle children’s play, learning, and development.

Play's vital role in fostering young children's healthy social and psychological development is nowadays a no-brainer. Research has found that play not only aids children's mental and physical health, it teaches them risk-taking and problem-solving skills, promoting imagination, independence, and creativity.

"While research on brain development is in its infancy, it is believed that play shapes the structural design of the brain. We know that secure attachments and stimulation are significant aspects of brain development; play provides active exploration that assists in building and strengthening brain pathways. Play creates a brain that has increased ‘flexibility and improved potential for learning later in life"

(Lester & Russell, 2008, p. 9).
